Great Lakes Technologies was among the invited companies to speak with the final year students in the University of Dar es Salaam Business School (UDBS).

UDBS apart from offering business degrees, also it has an incubation facility which promotes and Supports University graduates to start and manage their own businesses.

UDBS manages this facility through its department called University of Dar es Salaam Entrepreneurship Centre (UDEC).

Great Lakes Technologies is planning to launch an Exhibition Platform early next year after discovering the challenges facing organizations and the community during exhibition event. This was after participating in the World’s Maritime Day Exhibition and carrying interviews with various companies and organizations in which the most serious concern was community awareness.

The platform is expected to centralize exhibition information, providing easy management for member organizations and supply information to the community.

Freshmind Tours has come up with unique itineraries which are less common among the tour operators in Tanzania.

The Managing Director of Freshmind Tours, Mr. Peter Mashauri, said that they have decided to design historical and biological tours to offer more opportunities to tourists to learn the country history and discover behavior of fauna, flora and marine creatures. Tanzania is blessed to have thousands of species of plants and animals but most tour operators organizes for games and vacations leaving the other part untapped.

Great Lakes Technologies was contracted to design and manage the website for Freshmind Tours. 

Rural Urban Development Initiatives (RUDI), a private sector which deals with empowering micro-small enterprises and farming communities, has transformed the livelihood and improved the farming techniques in the rural farming communities. RUDI which collaborates with many other local and international donors has become a catalyst in agricultural sector development, which is believed to be the backbone of the economy in the country.

RUDI hired Great Lakes Technologies to re-construct its website which it believes is the vital part for communication with stakeholders, donors, farmers and other beneficiaries. The website has played a key role in communication and attracted more donors and partners.

Great Lakes Technologies has been awarded a certificate of recognition by Leuphana University of German after participating on Sustainability Research, a joint project of University of Dar es Salaam Entrepreneurship Centre and Leuphana University Lüneburg.

The research which was titled “Theory of Sustainable Entrepreneurship” involved 200 youth led young businesses in Tanzania in which Great Lakes Technologies scored high points on sustainability plans. Similar research was also conducted in Ghana and Nigeria which shows an increasing trend to self employment and entrepreneurship among university graduates.

Simba Logistics Company Ltd has launched its first ever, and one of its kind throw-type fire extinguisher, BONEX FR911-Flameout, which is said to be very effective in controlling initial fires.

The company aims to increase public awareness on fire prevention as well as to revolutionize the household and commercial fire extinguishing markets by introducing the simple to use, effective and cutting-edge products.

Great Lakes Technologies won a contract to design a brand website for the product, providing hosting, technical supports and trainings to staffs.

The Association for Women in the Maritime Sector in Eastern and Southern Africa (WOMESA) held its 6th Annual Conference for the first time in Tanzania. The meeting which was carried for five days involving more than 40 participants from 8 countries was historical in the Tanzania Maritime Sector.

While the main agenda of the meeting was training for members and launching of the Association’s Five Years Strategic Plan 2014/2019, the meeting encouraged members to open their National Chapters and encourage equal representation for women in the maritime sector in their countries.

WOMESA Tanzania Chapter Chairperson, Ms Regina Mbilinyi, expressed her gratitude to Great Lakes Technologies for making the event successful. Great Lakes technologies was contracted to prepare and design WOMESA Newsletter, Website,  Event Banners, IDs, Content Authoring and Event Photo Shooting.

Zanzibar AIDS Commission, a semi autonomous body under the Zanzibar First Vice President's Office, has taken a great move into the cyber world by officially launching its website during the World’s AIDS Day, which took place officially in Pemba Island. The main objective of the commission is to provide leadership and coordination to the Zanzibar National HIV Response.

The project, which is sponsored and closely monitored by UNICEF, was awarded to Great Lakes Technologies whom as a consultant, was required to develop a dynamic CMS based website for ZAC, Knowledge Based Wiki, Zanzibar CSO Database and Training for staffs. The first development took place in 2011 and redesign in 2014.
